making new joists look old

Burn the surface, wire brush to remove charring. You are left with raised grain emulating weathering/wear. Useful for 'rounding' sharp edges as they burn off easier than the surrounding timber too.

I worked in club back in end of 70's they fitted new doors to their 'castle' look bar, and let rip with a shotgun ..to cause holes & splinterring - worked for them
