There was a 'How it's Made' programme (I'm sad) about making GRP lamp posts. The machine seemed to be a like a big coil winder, winding GRP tape from a resin bath onto a mandrel. They kept the mandrel rotating whilst setting so the resin wouldn't run to the bottom. The mandrel could be internally heated.

I've seen a similar article about making a GRP mast on the web, but I've no idea where.
