Description is "MacAllister Double Bevel Slide Compound Mitre Saw (L)305mm 1800W"

does the 305mm relate to the diameter of the saw blade?

Does anyone know the arbour size most likely for this model?

Thanks

Doesn't seem to work. You could try using

Yes.

MacAllister stuff used to be rebadged GMC. Dunno if that's still the case. Is it this one?

you buy MacAllister, it's worth considering that outside guarantee, it's be virtually impossible to get spares.

Yes the 305mm is the diameter of the blade = a metric foot/12"

The bore is most likely to be 30mm but not dead certain so best to measure it before buying another blade.

The bore, diameter and number of teeth (often quoted as Z= ??) are normally boldly written on the blade.

LOL, sorry to dissapoint and well spotted, GMC are my initials :)

The link you posted is the saw that I have (though I have the B&Q McAllister model as linked(!) to). I am going to use it to cut some kitchen pelmet so felt that I should upgrade the blade to a finer model, this is the one that i had picked out from toolstation...

formatting link
that blade look like it would suit? It has converter rings for various arbour sizes...

17 previous posts in the group none of which reference dubious Aussie power tools, so I assume he's genuine.

I think you're just reading too much into the name, Bob. If we all thought like that, what rash conclusions would we come to about Dr Drivel? ;-)

Ta for the advice, I already have it but it gets used very infrequently so should hopefully last me a while!

Yeah, if the McA has a 16mm bore and the Silverline has a 16mm reduction ring, that should work.

You could try a test cut with your existing blade to see if you need a finer blade. The thing about having two circ saw blades is that you only ever use the one that's in there to avoid the faff of changing them.

How is it to use? If there's anything particularly good or bad about it, it'd be good to know as B&Q's own brand stuff does get some stick in the group.

Sorry I doubted you mate!

I think the Macalister has a 16mm bore but that will be Ok with the Silverline. It is a negative rake blade which is correct for a mitre saw (and incorrect for a table saw)

In article , GMC writes

Try looking on the existing blade, the one on my 250mm version of the same machine has the following, 250 x 2.8 dia 30 - 24T so has a 30mm bore.

It seems absolutely fine to me (keen diy level rather than pro) I have used it for a large decking project, cutting skirting and some other random jobs. The only thing that is naff is the laser guide which is more gimmick than use. The angles on the machine are accurate according to my square, however I intend to check these a little more thoroughly before i mitre the kitchen pelmet/cornice. For the money that I paid for it (£100 ish in sale) it seems a bargain (to me at least).

Cheers

GMC :)
