Low energy lamps

I thought we were all supposed to use synthetic eye of newt (E597) these days. Can't be green AND threaten an endangered species you know.

No it isn't

I don't mind doing reasonably eco things. However, I draw the line at those that

- Are political correctness for the sake of it.

- Are unsound and obviously so,

- Cost a lot of time to do. If it's that important then the council should deal with it - I pay them a lot of money to do so.

The message from Chris Hodges contains these words:

Underneath saucepans, for example. Provided they're not pressed tight against the inside it'll wash fine.

The primary reason I wash(*) our bottles, cans and plastics is so that there aren't any (major) food residues to go nasty in whilst they are stored waiting for the green box collection.

(*) A quick splunge and slosh about into in hot detergent water, more of rinse than a real wash.
