lidl multitool broken

Hi,

I switched on my Lidl multitool yesterday. It switched on and was buzzing away when suddenly it stopped and fell silent. This was whilst I held it in the air, it was not under load. There is a panel on the side that I have unscrewed and whilst I would not have the expertise to analyse the pcb, there is nothing obviously burnt out and there was no sign or smell of "magic smoke" when it failed. The flex looks undamaged but I suppose it wouldn't hury to check the continuity of that.

Has anyone else had one fail before? What is likely to have happened? I was thinking of posting about how useful it was, I guess I tempted fate. I shall see if it is still in guarantee and perhaps buy the Bosch one if this cannot be repaired.

TIA

What is the warranty on it? Usually pretty good on Lidl products.

Usually three years, provided you have the receipt. I've noticed some things now saying 'two year maker's warranty' or whatever, though, recently.

My Lidl Ultimate Speed battery charger bought in 2010 stopped working recently,[1] couldn't be arsed to go a store and ask for money back so i email the supplier who replied the next day, i had to send them the original receipt and received a replacement charger a week later. Now if i can repair the original charger i will be doubly happy.

[1] seem to remember a few people saying they have had problems with this charger, anyone managed a repair? -

Presumably the next time new one dies they will ask for your original receipt to be sent in again? Ah.... so much for the 3 yr g'tee then?

Well as the broken one was already over 3 years old by two months, WTF more would you ask for.

Iv?e never had anything from Lidl fail in the first or second year so i don?t know what hoops you may have to jump through to get a refund or replacement. But not many shops/suppliers will send you a FOC replacement for something over 3 years old without even seeing the dead item.

Purchased a park side multi tool. Used it once or twice then it stopped working. Stops and starts all the time now so can’t use.Didn’t keep receipt as I foolishly expect things to work after buying. At least for a year which is the usual guarantee.

Any shop would require proof of purchase for a warranty claim.

Lidl are unusual in offering a three year money back warranty. I'd guess they can do this because so many are too stupid to keep the receipt.

I've got ones of those. It's several years old and has been used quite a bit - still fine.

Some of their tools have a "moulding date" built into their plastic bits (although it may be inside) which puts a bound on the purchase date. I've thought about taking a cordless chainsaw back because it has stopped feeding oil, but it works well enough with an external spray so I have never quite got round to it.

Using a manufactured date would work against the consumer? Who wants the warranty to start at purchase?

In the absence of a receipt it's a start.

Most items are manufactured in JIT fashion, so possibly not much warranty lost?

If it was bought on a card, it will be on the bank statement.

Someone wrote the date "NN Jul 76" with his finger, in the wet pampas green glaze on the underside of my bath before it was fired.

Now there is some rust around one of the tap holes. Can I make a claim ?.

A lot of people buy the cheapo tat with cash though

Lidl will only deal with faulty items within the first year. After that they refer you with their supplier to deal with. IIRC the contact details are in the user manual. Spares are obtainable from -
