LED bulbs - equivalent output

GU10 are rubbish, MR16 as a format really isn`t going anywhere, outlawed in 5 years , not unless somone stumbles across a new compact light source and gets it to market in next 5 years...

C`mon Andrew , keep hearing this absolute rubbish about MR16 being outlawed, what do you suggest are going to replace them?

Check their website, they have them.

What I'm looking for is 24w ES daylight CFLs. Like hens teeth at a reasonable price.

Halogen is around 2%. The cheap LEDs procured for pennies and used in consumer products selling for a few quid are no more than that, and some are less.

If you go up to the more expensive 3W emitters, they're about 30lm/W (4% efficient) but at the temperature they run at when fitted into an MR16 format, they're too hot to run that efficiently.

You're unlikely to find a 5% efficient LED made up into a luminary (or a lamp) for much under £100, unless you make it yourself (in which case it is easily possible, as I did).
