LCD monitor sings, and goes white as a sheet..

MMM. left on in room under open window. MIGHT have got rained on,dry enough now. Makes singing noise, and when first switched on a picture appears but soon goes 'snow crash' and whites out.

Worth fixing? Or bin time..

The singing suggests a fault in the power supply or the loading of the power supply but not in the backlight inverters as the display fails to white.

If drying it somewhere warm for 24hrs doesn't work, I'd say it would be worth popping the case to take a look at the power supply area before consigning it to the bin. Look for the usual suspects (popped electrolytic capacitors) and look for tracking in the mains section. Clean the mains section with IPA,
