Laminate in hallway

Hello all, Going to put laminate down in the hallway, question is should i run the boards with or across the hall (1.2m wide) according to what I've heard the boards should run across the throw of light from the window, which would be accross the hall, but me noggin's tellin me to put it down in strips along the hall.

what dy'a think?

Put it down in a way it compliments the rooms leading off. If you have (or intending on having) laminate or other "planked" flooring in another room lay it the same orientation.

If it's just the hall then I'd go for length ways, Far less cuts to make and more economical and quicker to lay.

window,

Stripes across will make the hall (passageway at 1.2m wide) look wider, whereas lengthways will emphasise the narrowness. Obviously lengthways is easiest.

Personally I think that boards laid across a long thin room (like my hallway - yours may be different) just look funny. I'd lay the boards along the length of the room.

I'd incline to run it lengthways. What is beneath? If boards the best to go across them. Is the hallway straight? If not you may have to trim long lengths of board to an odd angle. How long are the boards? Will you have a lot of waste or need to have joints in that 1.2m? 1.2m x what? if very long then the window illuminated part is probably not significant.

Concrete floor beneath, its straingt apart from a slightly wider part that lead to the stairs, no joints in the 1.2m as the boards cover that, I'm gonna go with lengthways I think, jobs on for tomorrow :-)
