Klargester blockage CLEARED..

Yah well no fine..first waring was the house electricity tripping..finally deduced it was the Klargester.. opened top. Full of stinky water and motor immersed. Oh.

Last week pumped it dry, and let it refill with morte stinky water til it was obvious outflw was blocked.

Set to with hedge trimmer and spade to dig out the outflow. Should have been in a bed of gravel.

Well so it was..sort of. Gravel now full of MUD. Found pipe and started to clear large plug of mud and gravel..and found who had been pushing it up so far.

Bloody FROG crawled out. Or possibly a toad.

Made itself a nest. Filthy bugger!

Now, has anyone stripped out one of these motors?

Mega bucks for replacement unit..£350..

Yes, we inherited a Klargester in the new place, and the service bod who comes once a year on a service contract refuses to cover the motor unless it was covered from new (which it wasn't) as they are so pricey. Our unit has an alarm that hoots if it fills up too much so hopefully we'll get some warning. Looking at the motor though it seems to be a straightforward motor / gearbox so I should have thought it could be dried out to revive it, and if that fails it can be re-wound.

Not sure about your units but (some?) Klagesters have now been bought out by Kingspan.
