Kitchen worktop laminate finishes - smooth vs textured?

I saw a thread from a few years ago on the subject of laminate kitchen worktops and how gloss finish compares to textured finish for wear and tear (marking, cuts / scratches etc). The concensus seemed to be that the textured finish was a safer bet.

Now I'm faced with the same choice and wonder if anything has changed in the last few years? Are there any gloss finished laminates that are tough enough to be be considered? I'm sure there are a myriad of manufacturers of laminate kitchen worktops, so are there any particularly recommended?

Thanks

Mick

Things have not changed much in the last few years.

Textured worktops do not show minor scratched but gloss will

Try it in a worktops showroom on a sample, if they wont left you try to scratch it then you will know you can.

Buy from a specialist worktop shop rather than a shed, you should get a better choice & better service/price.

Any recommendations for manufacturers of reasonable quality laminate worktops to look out for?
