kitchen sink single lever mixer tap leaking slowly

after some trouble with a window sill the tap got knocked and now there is a slow leak under the sink. its a single lever mixer tap with 2 flexible hoses for hot/cold and 2 long threads with nuts holding it to the sink. i also noticed it isnt sealed very well around the sink hole where it sits, but i dont think thats where the leak is.

i was thinking first of all try re-fitting the tap but i will need a small spanner (is there a special tool for this) as there is little space and the nuts need tightening properly. the tap was new =A320 from ebay so might not be the best quality but has been fine til now.

any ideas what the leak could be? i've left a container underneath on the cabinet shelf and it is filling up every couple of days. it doesnt seem to make any difference whether the tap is turned on or off, to the speed it leaks.

question is there any difference between bathroom/kitchen mixer taps as some seem to be advertised specifically for one or the other room?

You need a box spanner to tighten the nuts holding the tap to the sink

You can often get to the nuts on the flexibles by undoing the fixing bolts & pulling the tap up, if there is enough play on the flexibles.

all sorted now i fitted a new tap with seperate hot/cold instead of the single lever. on the old tap, one of the thread bolts is slightly loose which i suspect is where the leak was from. i think i may have caused this when i knocked the tap.

also sorted my shower leak, using a lot of ptfe tape!
