Kitchen sink overflow pipe replacement

Found the cupboard under our kitchen sink full of water. Turns out the overflow pipe is split. Examining the pipe I find it appears to have been glued at each end, though the glue is failing (I can remove the pipe from each end fitting). What sort of glue would be used in this situation?

I'm sure I can lay my hands on suitable pipe for replacement, but it's the attachment (glue) I could really use help with.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Justin.

Depends on what the pipe is made of. Jubilee clip instead/as well as of glue?

The existing (which I'll be replacing because it's gone brittle) is flexible plastic hose - I say flexible, but it's not the type that's designed to be flexed on a daily basis.

I'd say the original would not be a good candidate for jubilee clips, too brittle, not enough give... but I could always try to find a replacement that was suited to jubilee clips... now, where's my callipers?
