Is this drill bit (see link) for masonry?

Many thanks for that. I have recently got friendly with an ex director of Baxi, I think that was his position, and he has been describing a modification to prevent kettling (sp). It involved putting a spigot with some long lasting super plastic disc on it and it disrupted the flow to prevent it. He tells me that the shop floor described them as kebabs (sp)

As a toolmaker / jigborer, I didn't like sharpening really large drills (3inch dia).

With smaller drills for pilot holes it was usually best to thin the central web of the drill with the corner of the grinding wheel. .

Suds was a cutting oil with an emulsifying agent - mixed with water. the smell was often caused by it breaking down due to biological attack. More recent ones had a biocide. Very modern ones are synthetic. Tramp oil from the machine tool also causes them to break down. With suds - the water was to carry away the heat whilst the oil was to lubricate the cutting action.

Saw you posted a few weeks ago. I wish I had known about your company earlier. In January the fan on my old Potterton Netaheat boiler was very slow get up to speed and that stopped the boiler ignition firing.

The whole boiler is old and due for replacement this summer so I didn't want to spend a lot on it. At the time I couldn't find an alternative to getting a new fan for £108.

So now you show me you do a reconditioned fan for £62 delivered. Arghhh! Too late!

Can't imagine my old fan is worth anything. Maybe the new one is worth salvaging for a few quid when the boiler goes in a few months.
