Is bare wood an issue with weather?

I am currently stripping old paint off some wooden widow frames, between other things I have to do it is likely that this job will take around 3 weeks. How crucial a part does the weather play in this as there is likely to be a period where the wood is bare and it rains, how does this affect any paint applied after this point?

As I progress this job would I be better to apply undercoat on bare sections as I go along until the complete section is ready for the finish coat?

thanks

If you are down to bare wood then primer goes on first and I suggest that as soon as you have stripped a frame that you prime it straight away just in case.

absolutely .. if it's back to bare wood then whack on a coat of primer, even roughly, you can sand it back later

Bare dry timber is like a sponge .. and better to have it soak up primer than water.
