Immersion Thermostat Failed .???

I switched the immersion heater on this morning but the water didn't heat ..

I had a look this evening and all the connections were ok and the reset button did not appear to have "popped" . To remove the thermostat I had to take out the immersion heater ( this is because of the angle I have to tilt the heater at to get it out and I can't do that with the thermo alone) . The heater is less than

18 months old and it seems fine .

Should I be be safe enough just getting a thermo replacement .?? I suppose if it doesn't work I can get it replaced for the full works .

You can indeed replace parts at random. I'd get/use a multimeter personally, it'll tell you whats wrong pretty quick, and soon save you its cost.

Sometimes the "wrong" sort of elements can go that quick in the "wrong" sort of water. Least one we once had did needed some weird "nicoally" ones, spelt something like that!. Rather resistant to the water IIRC. Take care when your removing it its not unknown for half the tank to come with it!. Copper tanks have thin walls and get thinner with time!...

Thx Tony .The water here is soft so no need for the Incolloy model .

I already have the immerser out .I took it out last night albeit with a bit of a struggle because of the confines of where it is situated and the restrictions of the joists/floorboards of the flat above .That's why I cannot remove the thermo on it's own as I cannot get the angle right so i need to take the heater itself out as well

Right .Thats the one..

Aren't they always in such spaces, told once thats its OK to bend them a bit if you have too, wouldn't like to do that with the thermostat part!..
