Yes.
Couldn't help wondering if the clock will fly off when a dart hits the board...

When I was training in the RAF we were not allowed to use our issued brushes, but has to have them on display, preferable varnished. As my Uncle was a cabinet maker I took them too him on my first leave. He had me sandpaper them, then tried to teach me to French polish them, I was an abject failure, the pad kept sticking to the varnish. He cleaned them off then did them for me, a mirror finish in seconds. I was often complimented on them during kit inspections!

or get knocked against the wall.
However it's a nice idea for anything one wants to keep a little bit hidden but at easy reach, eg alarm panel, keys, sex toys, etc.

It hooks over fairly securely, and the back box is well fixed, as is the board on spring mounts, so probably not a problem. Hopefully there won't be too many people throwing at the blackboard!
Well the design did allow for that - the crown moulding should hit the wall first. However its a tad academic since there is a curtain there.
Yup, probably more aesthetic than a "tool" box in the bedroom ;-)

Very nice job - just a bit disappointing not to see a real clock, with pendulum, engineering that would have justified this level of craftsmanship.

Lovely bit of wood work - well done and I'm sure there is something for many of us to learn from your write up. Many thanks for the WIP photos.
Being a bit of a perfectionist I have to do a +1 to Geoff's comment.- I looked for the winding holes and realised you'd taken the easy option. I will admit that I'm going to do the same shortly in that I have a piece of elm burr that has been cut about 2" thick and will look good with as a mantlepiece clock, and that will have an electronic mechanism.

Being visible justifies the level of craftsmanship.
Incidentally, where does one go for rail & stile cutters? I want a pair to do ovolo with quirk (to match the doors in my house); CMT make a suitable cutter, but who distributes them? Trend don?t seem to do exactly that pattern and while there are some ?Tornado? brand available from rutlands.co.uk they cheat: not a perfect fit between the scribe and mould. Ideally (moon on a stick time) I?d like something that can do both double sided room doors and single sided cabinet doors.
I can find suppliers of tooling to do the tongue+groove and moulding separately, but I?d rather do fewer linings-up and passes.

Well indeed, and a nice soporific "tick tock" would not have gone amiss either. However, given the requirements (and budget) there was not really the space for lots of elegant mechanics...

No, they lack the quirk. To specify more exactly, I want ovolo radius 6mm with 3mm quirk (or ¼? and ?? or thereabouts: I don?t need the match to be exact).
That was my impression too. Axminster?s own brand cutters seem pretty good (I have a few), but their range doesn?t include what I want, hence the question.
