How many underfloor heating spirals in a small room?

The loop that is bent into a spiral is undoubtedly the most efficient - you need marginally less pipe for a given heat output. Its also very relevant on a long pipe run (>50m) especially on low flow rates, but on short runs at high flow there isn't that much heat transfer anyway..

In this case I think its a question of being over sensitive.

Actually, for showers, the best way is probably to use hat exchangers, that heat the incoming water from the stuff going down the drain. Done right, this can very dramatically reduce heat usage. Of course, there is a tradeoff between heat exchanger size/complexity/cost/cleanability, and heat recovery.

With baths, unless you're topping up a warm bath with hot water don't really work this way though.
