How do roll-up blinds work?

Hello all,

Probably a daft question... i've used cord operated roller blinds, venetian blinds and vertical blinds but never roll-up ones... there seems to be a vertical cord in the middle... so how do i make the blind go up and down?

Thanks,

Mike.

The wooden roller to which the blind is attached is spring loaded; the spring winds up the blind, while the end pins and brackets are designed to allow "braking" at any given point.

Pull down slightly on the cord and you'll find it rolls itself up; stop it when you've let it rise to where you want.
