How can I rid my house of spiders?

Those tiny ones that defy the laws of physics by their small size and ability to annoy you for a couple of hours at a time. I am told they are fruit flies by someone who is more in contact with nature.

Is there an old lady about? If so, get her to swallow a fly and after that all should be ok provided she keeps away from birds.

At "spider in the bath time", usually Autumn when it's getting colder outside, I leave the bath mat on the side of the bath so that they can climb out, if you do that you will probably never see them, at least that has been my experience. Don

Cat's (generally) cannot focus on anything closer than 30cm. Ours use their noses to find treats that have been dropped nearby.

A cow could never catch a dog, you must be making that up!

Place horse chestnuts around the area - this seems to deter spiders.

Not forgetting that that spiders are ridding the house of lots of other bugs :-)
