Hotpoint Aquarius condensor not heating

Hi,

I have a Hotpoint Auuarius condenser dryer which is just over a year old. It is not drying clothes anymore because the air is not heating. I have checked the air being expelled from the back and it is always cold. There are 2 heating elements at the back. There are also 2 white parts that are about an inch long with a circular part on top that are screwed into the back plate. They look like pizo transducers. Are these the thermal fuses (1 for each element). I have not checked them for open circuit yet but will do tommorrow. Is there another thermal fuze in the unit or is this it. I'm hoping that these (if they are the thermal fuses) have blown and this is the problem. Everything else seems to operate correctly. Are my assumptions correct?

Thanks, Paul

The retailer is probably still liable to repair it under your statutory rights, provided you haven't abused the dryer and have followed the instructions for cleaning the filters and the condensor.

Yes indeed one of the thermostats is blown. I don't think its self resettable so I will just have to try and source a spare. Hotpoint do supply free parts for 5 years provided one of their technicians fits it but its hardly worth paying the labour costs when the part itself should only cost a few quid.

Thanks, Paul
