Hot water Ravi valve

Could someone please tell me what a hot water Ravi valve is / does on a domestic central heating system?

What would the consequences be, if it got stuck?

Thanks PeterL

Probably shuts the CH circuit off until the tank is hot, then opens/diverts to feed boiler output to the radiators.

RAVI is just a concocted name for a range of Danfoss (a manufacturer) thermostatic valves.

The main feature is they are purely mechanical (ie non electric) in operation. There are various ones intended for different purposes. (Eg radiator control, hotwater control)

They are cheap, reliable and quick to install but can't be remotely adjusted (ie you have to twiddle aknob on the valve to change things.) Eg

Danfoss has a pretty good reputation.

The consequense would be you would lose the automatic function. It would continue to do whatever it was doing when/wherever it got stuck.
