Hot water cylinder

Hi me again, my hot water cylinder is covered with foam but still feels warm to the touch and the cupboard it is in is quite warm. Should I put an additional insulating jacket on the hot water cylinder? Karen

Why would you want to do that?

Are all the pipes properly lagged?

I suspect you'll notice more difference if you insulate the pipes instead of adding more to the cylinder.

Well it wont do any harm. Also add some foam pipe lagging to all exposed pipes. You only pay for insulation once, you pay for lost heat all the time !.

You can't stop all the heat loss. Applying insulation to the pipes will be more useful than additional insulation on the cylinder.

Losses are probably around 100W max. Getting the HW temperture lower will also help.
