8km2 - but green - seen worse. I was thinking somewhere a little bigger- that could become a self sufficient home for folks - so that aid would not have to be maintained forever and they could build a new life.
Perhaps start with the Pitcairns - they need some new blood.
It appears to have been, of necessity, pretty self-sufficient until the early twentieth-century. A hard life true, but if you are genuinely getting out of some hell-hole in fear of your life then surely this is a green and promised land.
