I want to move a drop leaf table out and up into another room but it appears to be full of betamax video tapes, Sony, Maxell, Basf, Even Woolies own brand, Agfa and all sorts. Is there anyone who might be looking for these antiques, or is it another end of the line land fill job? The table needs to be sorted out as its central top has had water damage from long term overwatering of plants on it. Brian
Checking out completed sales on eBay the most accurate easily available guide
From the top (relevant sales without bundled recorders)
10 tapes (unclassified look used from the photo) sold for 6.00
8 TDK,SKC and Maxell sold for 7.50
3 Sony 750 sold for 3.99
3 Sony 750 sold for 3.99
3 Sony 750 sold for 3.99
These were new and the seller seems to have a stock of them
However another of his listings 3 Sony 750 didn't sell for 3.99
3 Used Polaroid 750 sold for 99p
From these examples it seem the most you could expect would be ?1.33 for new Sony 750's and ?1 per tape used, if lucky. And possibly a lot less.
So depending on how many you have - unless you have some rare recorded titles - you wouldn't be throwing away an absolute fortune. On the other hand you could give them to somebody who might want to take their chances on eBay and give you your cut.
Depends what's on them, I heard that eary programs were deteted after aired so you might have something few people have, didn;t that happen to bob monkhouse's tape collection.
Dunno, the problem is its pot luck as the only Betamax machine here is a faulty C9. It won't load, if you get it to load, it will only run for a few mins then stop. Pretty old tech these days I suppose. I hate those loading mechanisms, as theey make things far too complicated. Much better with a top loader.
Hmm, I'd need to find an ebay person then. The price obviously has to include postage and packing etc. Brian
