Hitachi DV18DCl2/JC review

Following the untimely demise of my Makita 14.4v combi, I needed a replacement ASAP.

Best deal I could find was the Hitachi 18v Li-Ion from B&Q at £89.

Good spec, 13mm chuck, 22 torque settings, hammer & drill functions, 2 x

15 a/hr batteries & a smart charger. Obviously a quality tool.

Bargain at £89. Can't really fault it.

Compared to the Makita 14.4v though, it just doesn't match up. Doesn't feel as comfortable in the hand, speed control nowhere near as good & I reckon the Mak has more welly despite the extra volts on the Hitachi.

It has the same torque as my 18V NiCd Makita combi (43 v 42), so that's quite low for li-ion. Unsual to have 2 batteries for that price, especially

15Ah!
