high density linear polythene welding rod for canoe?

I have an Old Town Discovery Canoe, it has a crack in it. Today I went into the local weld specialist and he'll fix the crack, if I get the material. The Canoe is made from high density linear polythene, and I cant find weldi ng rods that are high density and linear. Should I go for Low Density and linear polythene, or high density polythene or something all together different?

Thanks

I found sources of hdpe, and had assumed from reading elsewhere that many t hings were made of liner hdpe that the welding rds would be liner, but they are not according to the reply from an ebay seller today. Maybe my wheely bin is linear hdpe, perhaps I willcut a strip from the gree n one for the repair, unless there is a better solution?
