help! Expert victorian tiled floor lifter in Kent?

Hi folks,

Bizarre subject I know, but we've bought a full victorian hall's worth of tiles that are still on the floor in a house in Kent. The seller didn't mention the fact that they wouldn't be lifting the tiles themselves, so does anyone know an individual or company that could lift all the tiles, note where they came from and bring them up to Newcastle to be relaid in an almost identically sized hallway?

Bloody ebay :o))

cheers

Sounds a good con' to me. I wonder if the seller hopes that you will not bother to come and collect the tiles?

You wouldn't be "gothywench" by any chance? Looking at the floor I wish you the best of luck, maybe offer the seller money to lift the tiles themselves?

Heh, *i'm* not but *she's* currently shopping at asda :)

My current thinking is that if there are museums that can remove entire buildings brick by brick and rebuild them somewhere else in the country, also museums that can lift roman tiled floors successfully there must be a firm that specialises in this sort of work. Just got to find it!

Oh, and we're not paying until we've got the tiles here......

cheers

Why not give an architectial salvage yard a call and ask if they'll tell you how they do it? There are a few in various locations.

Ta for the pointer. We'll give it the once-over if the place we found last night doesn't come up with the goods:
