Is there any way to treat water-damaged hardwood to remove discolouration?
This is in a bathroom which will no longer be a bathroom, so I've got some filling-in to do for the holes where the bog, sink waste etc. were anyway - but I'd like to save as much of the existing wood as possible.
Sanding with an orbital has got rid of a lot, and I can run a drum sander over the entire space, but I'm concerned that the discolouration might be deeper even than what the drum sander will remove - seeing what (if anything) can be done chemically at this stage without removing any more thickness would seem wise.
I read somewhere that neat bleach, followed by vinegar to neutralise it, might be the way to go?
cheers
