Gorgi paperwork/certificate for capping a pipe ?

A mate of mine has just has his ktchen redone and has changed from gas hob to electric. Now the kitchen fitters were not Gorgi qualified so their Corgi mate appeared to disconnect the old hob and cap off the pipe, no problems (except he turned up a day late and wrong time, now where had we heard that before !!!).

Anyway I think the pipe has been capped with a compression fitting behind one of the fitted kitchen units. Is this acceptable ?

Should my mate receive any paperwork/certificates about the work ?

Yes.

The chap should have done a leak test after finishing up to make sure all is well but unless your friend had asked for a safety certificate then he wouldn't receive anything apart from a bill.

No paperwork is required for this job (as yet - ODPM may yet make all gas jobs notifiable some day B-( ). Compression fitting is acceptable if remains accessible.

May mate checked, builder passed his mates phone no and spoke to him. Yes compression OK as still accessible behind unit and he would really only issue gas paperwork for something major like commisioning a boiler. Capping and replacing appliances he would not issue paperwork in a private dwelling.

However another thing has reared its head, Prat P. The Prat P qualified electrician fitted a new feed from CU for cooker, tested etc but is not issuing paperwork as he is self-certifying and thats OK according to him.
