Fused spur

I have the option of an unswitched socket or a fused spur and flex. I like fused spurs but the boiler does not (via instructions) route the power through the back. So it really is a plug solution. Why Vaillant do that? If I do go fused spur I guess it is a face plate with flex hole or can I just neatly put a semi circle and sleeved grommet in the side of the spur face plate? I imagine I'll end up with a socket!

You can buy fused spurs with a flex knock-out in the bottom edge of the face plate.

You need a flex outlet faceplate as this will have the proper clamp for the flex. You can get flex outlet spurs with a pokey-outey or a flush-down-the-wall flex outlet hole.

Thanks, hardly elegant though eh? I think I'll plaster over the flex and reroute it through the back or to the suggested position underneath, but exit plaster adjacent to base. It's not like I might want to plug it in somewhere else!

May depend on connections at boiler end, but you don't have to use flex.

It can be useful sometimes to be able to plug it in to an inverter/UPS/generator.
