Foam Roof

Your roof system has more direct contact with sunlight and rain than any other part of your property. For this reason, selecting the right roof system has a lot of potential for saving energy and reducing maintenance expense. In addition to savings on heating/cooling and long-term leak-proof protection, your foam roof will also increase the efficiency of your solar array.

Sprayed foam roofs have been heavily criticised for the major problems they sometimes cause.

Doesn't sprayed foam lead to rotting the timbers which now have no air ventilation at all but are still subject to moisture from outside?

Had a cold call from

recently.

They claimed that, even with loft insulation, they could still (with a thin coating sprayed on top of the tiles) reduce energy loss.

I asked them how the insulation characteristics of their coating compared with 300 mm of fibreglass, which they guy didn't know (surprise!), so I asked what he did know about it, at which point he hung up.

But there are some benefits............

"an improve structural rigidity for better resistance against earthquake loads."

Hum, like that is really important in the UK. Now if they said increased reistance to tornadoes that may have slighly more benefit than earthquake resistance.

I'm more than somewhat intrigued by Matty's problems with his earthquake machine, but I couldn't think of a good taste followup for NZ.

I thought flexible buildings were more earthquake-resistant?

Misuse of the term 'rigidity'

I expect the UK suffers more roof damage from chavs & scrotes walking on them than it does tornadoes & earthquakes put together.

A workshop of mine took some roof damage (corrugated asbestos cement) from Plod chasing two burglars across it. Ratboy and his skinny smackhead mate went clean across it, Plod's size 13 went through it.

I just looked at their website, out of curiosity. It says; "Servicing Los Angeles County.........."

They must pay someone to spam UK newsgroups.
