fluorescent tube still flickering

Got a tube in a cupboard that comes on when the door is opened and has a switch. Tube was flickering +++++++ and not coming on permamently. Replaced tube & replaced starter thingy

Still flickering.

What now ? (a deep cupboard so the tube is preferable to a bulb)

flickers ++++++++ whether its switched on from the switch or the switch is left on and the door contact is used.

Bad contact or faulty choke? Probably not worth the hassle of repair ...

Are these switches in series, both need to be "on" for the light to come on. Or is parallel, either will turn the light on but if one is on the other won't turn it off.

series - the main switch on the tube holder has to be on and then there is a door contact. ie I can stop the thing coming on a tall by switching the tube one off

So if the door contact is iffy that will still cause the flicker no matter the state of the other switch as it is always in circuit.

It's quite likely that the door switch is iffy, small micro switches don't last long on a "nasty" load and a flourescent is a "nasty" load.

Try by passing or removing the door switch.
