The Fein clone is back in Aldi:

one last year when they reduced the last few to =A330 and it's been very good for those jobs where nothing else will do.

Also I see Toby's posting about the swing drill from this newsgroup has been quoted on their website but attributed to diybanter.com:

Looks like the first generation Fein which you need an allen key to fix the blade. The latest Feins have a quick release which hopefully they have a worldwide patent on. The side grip is a bit useless with a tool that small. In fact almost all the battery/powerdrills I have owned, the side grip is taken off never to be used again.

I would be interested to know if it was good at drilling joists but I expect the gears would die a relatively quick death if it was used in anger for that sort of heavy duty work, nor would it have the umph. Angle grinder to cut down a spade bit in a short body branded drill/ driver would be far more reliable.

I have a Wicks ordinary cordless drill - except that you can quickly fit a right angle drive between the drill and chuck. Doesn't get used often - but is invaluable when it is.

Yup, got the same one. Basic drill used all the time, right angle drive great for getting you out of a hole.

suggestion, not a product endorsement!

I can't see an email address I can contact them on - do I need to actually write a letter, or am I not looking in the right place?

For the tossers compiling that webshite. I've complained since I'm fairly pissed off when people like you are treated with contempt by some brain-dead marketing droid.

I think that a letter/email to the owners would be useful but damfino what address to use.

Tried that address at 5 to midnight yesterday, and got a reply at 5 past 9 today. someone is apparently looking into the matter for me - will keep you all posted!

Got a reply today (after a nudge email to them!) saying...

"I?ve just heard back from the advertising agency. They have now been informed that any bloggers must be contacted for confirmation and approval prior to using any endorsements on any marketing material.

Apologies for this, it should not happen again in the future."
