think this was the company that featured on the news this week.

Marriage is fast becoming a 'throwaway' item, like Tesco's microwave ovens etc.

You can even save the costs of web lawyers if you DIY and go to your county court youself.

If you just kill the bitch you can get legal aid, she won't sting you for alimony, and you'll get free board and lodging for the next six years.

Ask your employer how much revenue he has to generate to pay your 21,000 quid. It won't be far short of 60,000 and could well be more. And don't forget that holidays, sickies, pension, etc just about doubles your so called hourly rate, compared to the self employed.

Sod that. Fill the forms out together (we did) and then she gave me a lift to the pub where my girlfried was waiting before going home to see her boyfriend. Job done properly.

Then you'll never visit a dentist, doctor, lawyer, garage, etc.

I wish I could rewrite that so that the piss will will not be taken.

My girlfriend was not waiting at the pub to go home to see the wife's boyfriend or anyother boyfriend. And the wife went home to her house to see her boyfriend.

Are you a script writer for Eastenders?

It's OK, Adam, I understood what you meant. Seems very civilised. How's the back?

Sounds more like the current type of story line used in "The Bill" (what I now bother to watch anyway, perhaps I just keep missing the Policing...) to me, perhaps they should have kept the pilot name - well most of the characters now seem to have saw-dust for brains!

The back is a lot better and now there is little pain. I still tell my Mother it still hurts just to make her feel guilty.

If I lived in the USA I am sure a solicitor would be after me making a claim.

Wow! OP here..

Looks like I've touched on a few self employed raw nerves there, but I for one am happy to pay the price as long as it's fair and not extortionate. I know that my OP didn't go into details but this was so that the post wasn't 3 pages long, but if you're interested:

-Extend existing ring and light ccts

-Extend cooker cct

-Extend boiler cct

-6 MK / Crabtree quality sockets to cover both kitchen and dining room

-WC fan and lighting

-Hall lighting

-External LV lighting and pond pump supply to be run underground

-Switched spurs for all normal kitchen appliances running to unswitched undercounter sockets

Any offers?

Who's doing the digging?

Prolly at least three days work assuming the sparks is not digging the holes and back filling.

Depending on the distance and what you have at the head end, the outside electrics could cost £150 in parts alone.

Can't see you getting much change from a grand though.

Not got a problem with that. Would the price vary wildly dependant on quality of lights, switches, sockets etc? or would it be negligable??

Looks like a big job for 3 days work but I'm no expert whereas you prob are : )

Have a look at this site and compare the prices of different sockets, etc.

With light fittings the sky is the limit. From a couple of pounds to many thousands.

Might be not much change from two!

Light fittings vary hugely in price - depending on what you go for.

The other accessories will vary by a factor of two or three perhaps. So unlikely to change the bottom line by more than £150 either way.

Much depends on how fast you sparks can work. Of the jobs you listed:

In itself easy enough, if access is simple. That will depend on how easy it is to get under floors etc.

Depends on above, and also whether he truly extends it, or replaces the whole cable run.

Is this a dedicated circuit, or a spur from an existing power circuit?

The better quality fittings are often a little quicker to wire as well, so the quality specified here may not make much difference to the price.

Again, does this mean the need to core bore a hole for the fan etc?

as per other extended circuits

The cost of this could vary greatly. If you have a look at my article:

will see that this can be quite involved, or quite simple, depending on what actually is needed.

By way of reference I just costed a project for a neighbour to run a simple feed to an exterior socket in a greenhouse. Using the simplest and cheapest available solution it still came to about £250, and will take about half a day to do correctly. That does not involve much if any digging either.

Again, much depends on how easy it is to chase out the walls and get the physical installation done. (much of the work of an electrician has more to do with hacking lumps out of stuff and making good rather than actual wiring. Often the design and wiring is the easy bit.

The other thing to add to your list is to test everything, and write out all the paperwork to go with it.

I am not a pro sparks, and so can't comment on how long that sort collection of jobs would take if you do nothing else day in and out - I am just going from a rough gustimate of how long it would take me. Perhaps one of the pro's would care to comment?
