Is it permissible to locate an electric shower unit above a bath? I don't envisage the thing leaping off the wall and electrocuting someone taking a bath, but then the building regs do seem to err on the side of extreme caution sometimes...
TIA

Above as in on the ceiling? ;-)
Or on one of the walls the bath is up against?
The latter is a quite common arrangement ...
If you mean in the conventional "shower over the bath" arrangement then its fine. (you think of a bath as a deep shower tray!)
they have to be located outside and you turn them on and off with the use of a ladder, all in the interest of health and safety.
