DZR fittings

I asked this as a sub question in another thread but didn't get any replies so am asking again all on it's own

In plumbing, what is the purpose of DZR fittings ? When should they be used and when should they be avoided?

Thanks

Thanks but that answer seems to relate only to potable water. Does this mean DZR fitings are unnecessary in a heating system?
