Door widths

Asian chef at my local real ale pub wants to fit a 30 inch door into a

33 inch frame. It used to be his back door until he got a conservatory. He tells me that the wider door is approximately twice the cost from the sheds, of a 30 inch one.

What are his options? Locally manufacture door at 33 inches wide? Etc.

Use the 30" with 1 1/2" packing strips either side .. or multiples to

3" .. :)

Frankly he's being a cheapskate and you might be better getting someone else in as there may be trouble ahead, whatever you do.

At the pub? Is it a fire exit or required for disabled access?

Brick up 33" hole.

Knock through a new 30" hole.

Tell him to get out of our country or pay for a professional job. He won't like either.

To him, he thinks not, but I don't know how secure his conservatory door is.

I will not be touching this job. I am only asking on his behalf.

No, It's at his home.

That sounds like it could be expanded on :-)

Best way would be as others have said, custom door .. or maybe a custom frame to suit the smaller, cheaper door and wide hole. ;)
