Do double ovens have standard aperture size?

Mine is a Hotpoint DY46X, but I'm thinking of replacing it.

Pretty well, yes. But there are exceptions. We changed our oven just after Christmas, and it's a Hotpoint DY46K. So you have the 'standard' size there.

I know I measured the aperture beforehand, and that was when it contained a 20 year old oven. The vast majority of the replacement ovens I looked at had the same dimensions, give or take a mm or two.

I guess it depends how much space is actually there; if it's standard units then it should be fine. The only dimension that might give trouble would be the vertical one, mainly because of any bezel that might foul against whatever is above; that's not part of the aperture but might be relevant.

I did look at the model in the shops first (Currys I think). I didn't buy the oven there, even though it was a distress purchase. I don't expect they even had it in stock, and they don't sell the display models.

I was impressed with the supplier I used in the end; they delivered and unpacked exactly when they said they would, and gave us advance warning on the day. I opted to fit and connect it myself.

Just checked: it was:

ordered it on the 26th, and had it delivered on the 28th..!

That is very useful advice, thanks. Reason I'm contemplating replacement is I've already replaced the lower oven element only three years after first switch-on, then a year later I had to *remove* the oven to replace the fan! Now the thermostats on upper and lower ovens are unreliable. So, in short, I think Hotpoint is pants, since the oven, installed when the house was built 7 years ago, should have worked for years without repair, in my opinion, especially since I'm single and don't use it much. Maybe next time I'll go for quality, like Miele if they do ovens. Or Siemens.
