diy guitar distortion kit?

Just to ask if anyone has a circuit details or where I can buy a kit location (in uk) for making a guitar distortion unit which works well. I found this one

I know this is a DIY group, but what are you trying to acheive by finding a kit? Danelectro do pedals starting at £15 - you could hardly get a case, sockets and switch for that!

Maplin have a poor range of kits these days - but I'm sure someone will do one.
