The message from "The3rd Earl Of Derby" contains these words:

Ha! You ain't seen nothing. Woodside in Telford has the second highest rate of teenage pregnancy (for example) in the country. It's allegedly in the ten most deprived estates in the realm. Though to live here you wouldn't know it. We had a major problem with burglaries, but that's pretty well been knocked on the head now by a combination of things - partly better policing, partly security cameras, partly the demolition of some flats here which were dire and full of scunners and partly by kicking out a few families. From Christmas to the end of March there were two burglaries on the entire estate - which is over a thousand houses.

Some bits are like Beirut but others, perhaps only 100 yards away, are fine. We're in one of the nicer bits, but you never forget that it's easy to let the place slide downhill so we keep an eye out. Silly things, like if some chav comes and parks his Nova outside with the music up loud several neighbours will wander out and chat to each other over the fences, get things from their cars, generally be seen watching him. They get the message pretty quickly. Being seen watching makes a big difference.

Solution, hopefully, but yes, I was assuming it was linux. I use different linux "solution's" out of the pc. I just couldn't create a mini PC, and am glad someone else has.

I just hope the postman doesn't just drop a card tomorrow, that's just be irony at its best.

Will the 320 x 240 resolution be enough?

Look forwards to your review.

It arrived yesterday, and I had it up and working in minutes. It does do what it says, although the camera is average quality. I tried to add an existing camera, but it must not be of the same chipset.

The "motion detected" works just fine, although I've not managed to get the ftp and email working. This would just be a firewall issue. I've not bothered to bypass my router yet.

Have been in contact with the company that manufacture the product, the pro version is due out at the end of the year, and a mid-range product is expected out in Sept-Oct.

I also discovered that the product I bought from eBay is counterfeit. So, if you're interested, I'd buy from here instead.

I'm going to wait for the PRO version as, unless I can get a refund, I'll just keep toying with this one for a while.

Their latest version is 640x480. However, the Pro version due out later this year will support more makes of cameras to be added. It will also support a USB dongle and USB hub, which sounds great.

counterfeit goods?

I've written to the seller asking their view, am in contact with the manufacturer also. I'll then look into how to get a legitimate address behind a PO Box, and then finally will report to ebay.

If you think that's the wrong order, please let me know.

Oh, and I first posted on an ebay newsgroup asking for advice. Although had no help from them so far.

I don't want to start spouting off until I'm sure of my rights and what the seller has to say.

Yes its the wrong order ie inform the seller you want your money fully refunded, then inform ebay.

Not really sure where the order is wrong then. I've written to the seller. I will write to ebay once I've received a response, or if I don't receive a response after a reasonable period. The user is very active on ebay, and I don't really want to accuse a legitimate business without giving them a chance to redeem themselves.

I notice the ebay one is marked CM-03,and Icam don't stock that number? Its possible that this was withdrawn and the remainder sold off in bulk to any purchaser?

They still have it listed here ...

for information."

As I would want some support and also because I'm such an honest guy, I will return it to the vendor. They offer PayPal Buyer Protection and Seller accepts Returns. However, it's to a PO Box address. AFAIK, PO Boxes don't really like parcels being sent to them. But I may be wrong.

Anyway, no response from vendor as yet.

I'm sure Royal Mail used to say they would give out the real contact details to anyone who asks. Now they just say they reserve the right to do so.

Thanks for that, a quick search on Companies House showed a dissolved company in Liverpool of the same name. So, I am guessing that's them. They also hide their whois info, but as a trader they shouldn't.

So, there's enough to get going on them. They've still not replied.

The address can be found using ebays info, although you need to ask in ebays forum, howto?
