Damaged parquet flooring

The oak flooring in a couple of rooms at home has been damaged by th

high heels of some of the guests in a recent gathering.

There are plenty of small marks, about 4 mm in diameter and 1-1.5m deep.

Other than sanding and repolishing, is there another way to repair it?

I heard somewhere applying heat with a hot iron on top of a wet cloth I tried it but made no difference.

The floor is in great condition otherwise, it was laid only 5 year ago.

Thanks,

Antoni

This sounds like specialist work for a flooring contractor. Individual parquet blocks can be replaced but it is difficult to get a perfect match. The dents are too shallow to hold filler, and sanding them out would leave hollow areas one to two mm deep.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Can I not sand them down 1.5mm throught the whole two rooms?

That would clear all the dents.

Or is 1.5mm too much to sand down?

Thanks,

Antoni

I don't know. If the blocks are solid hardwood that is a possibility, but if the top is a layer of veneer then it would depend on the thickness of the veneer. I would get some estimates for repair and see what they proposed doing, then decide if it was DIYable.
