d-i-y houseboat

I am not happy with the design of this houseboat.

It's too hard to see where you are going

  1. It possibly needs more bracing
  2. The handrail seems a bit flimsy

Any other complaints/suggestions?

This is a consequence of Part L of the Building Regulations (Conservation of Fuel & Power) requiring small windows.

2. It possibly needs more bracing

See Part A (Structures). Most problems can be solved with a lot of concrete.

3. The handrail seems a bit flimsy

See Part K (Protectiond from falling) which requires handrails of knotted string to have BS compliant knots.

't be disheartened by these compliance issues, you are likely to find a particualry smooth ride (in spite of the unconventional design) in relation to Part B (Protection from fire), and Part F (Ventilation) although Part C (Resistance to moisture) may be an issue.

Not too small - if you reduce the window area beyond a certain point the calculated lighting energy goes up which makes compliance more difficult. And the best of windows certified by BFRC can let in more heat over the heating than they lose.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Matty F" saying something like:

Ugly burd driving it.

Otoh, it's the most mobile four-poster bed I've seen, and when there's too many partygoers up top there will be an automatic ejection system.
