CSA of immersion heater cable

What's the correct CSA for immersion heater cable? TLC advertise 1.5mm^2 as being suitable for 16A

Assuming you mean the final flexible cord connection, 1.5 mm^2 is usual for a 3 kW domestic heater.

That agrees with Table 4H3A in BS 7671.

Thanks. Sorry to be a lazy botty but I've no idea where my 7671 or OSG etc are ATM (SWMBO's been tidying up :-(). Bloody Luddite IEE, it's the only BS I've got on paper: all the others I need are PDFs on my HDD.

I guessed 20A by comparison with T+E. I thought it was OTT but wondered if I was missing something.
