You don't hire much equipment then.

Anyone with such experience would be aware of the difference in costings between hiring from an equipment hirer and the cost attribution from an equipment owner using the equipment as part of a task.

So, I accepted the guys (per hour) quote because his correspondence with me suggested that he was reliable and as I'm in a difficult location for a load up (which I informed him about) I didn't want someone changing their mind at the last minute because the job was too tough.

And as I can't yet move completely into the new flat because:

a) the phone/internet won't be connected for another week b) the previous owner took the fridge freezer and I need to arrange for a new one to be delivered.

I was only moving about 80% of my stuff today.

But about three quarters though the intended load he starts whinging about there not being enough space in his van, so I went down to check and saw that he was making this up

Then he starts to whinge about the final load being too heavy, so I say OK we'll leave the last heavy boxes and only load the light ones!

So I've now got about 15 more boxes for trip 2 than I intended :-(

Though on the plus side I only had to pay for 4 hours instead of 5 if we had taken the extra boxes.

When we finished the unload he said "that's the hardest move I've ever had to do!" so I asked, "does that mean you don't want to do the second trip?" and he said "yes".

So now I've got to find someone else to do the rest of my stuff :-(

What's up with these people. Whinging about having to carry stuff up and down stairs. If it was an easy load-up I'd be doing it myself, wouldn't I? It was only a LWB transit full! Well, not full!
