I have a Clarke Warrior 60 electric air compressor.
I went to use it and found that while it compresses air fine .. it is not cutting out when it reaches set pressure .... it just continues 'pumping until the safety over-pressure valve 'blows'
This is not related to outlet pressure (regulators are fine) but the pressure that the main cylinder pressure switch operates (or in this case doesn't)
It has one of the integrated units ...

They are adjustable if you take the top cover off - maybe the adjustment has drifted. Secondly the over pressure valve might be set a bit low and tripping before it should - is there a pressure gauge fitted?
The over pressure valve is not adjustable .. just a plunger spring loaded against a seat.
There are 2 pressure gauges ..... one for tank pressure other for adjustable reg outlet pressure.
Assume these pressure regulator work just by disconnecting leccy once tank is at max pressure ... i.e. tank always at full pressure, and then downstream reg used for everything else ?
The actual arrangement is - cylinder output is a steel pipe to a tank side mounted valve .. one side is screwed into boss on tank (air input) on the valve it looks like the arrangement is a spring loaded plunger .. when operated (presumably when tank at full pressure) it allows air up a small bore plastic pipe to the bottom of the Pressure Reg assembly. (which I gave link to)
I'm not sure if it is this 'bleed feed' that supply's the trip to the Pressure Reg switch...
The bottom of the Pressure Reg Assembly screws into tank (air out) and the 2 outlets on this Reg provide air feed to adjustable air regulator and a screw in pressure gauge that measures tank pressure.
Your unit sounds pretty much identical to my own...
Mine blows off its seat and re-seals a short while before the compressor is shut down by the pressure switch. I suspect the spring might well weaken over time, so my plan is to try fitting a thin washer under the spring to see it cures it.
I can't remember all of the details, but the outlet pressure regulator developed a problem of leaking air - I found the 'rubber' seat seals had some how managed to turn itself completely around inside the regulator.
Just to repeat, the pressure switch is adjustable.
