Combi diagnosis please

Having fixed various pressure and sludge-related issues I'm still have trouble with an annoying intermittent fault. Most of the time the domestic hot water works fine, but sometimes it doesn't - the burners just don't light apparently. I say "apparently" because I don't live there, and I just get rather vague reports that it's not working properly, and I'm unable to replicate the fault when I show up.

Anyway, suggestions as to what could cause an intermittent DHW fault like that?

If its a tenant complaint, often its down to people not realising the HW is finite and takes time to reheat. Yes, some people are that devoid of basic knowledge. I'd be unhappy to draw any conclusion without some kind of reliable data.

Isn't there a pressure switch (looks like a couple of small aluminium bowls stuck together) which needs to set off a micro switch for the water to heat? Inside is a diaphragm which can go. From what I've seen, the diaphragm can be replaced quite easily. That said, there are many other ways the water won't heat too :-(.

Ok thanks for the replies. I reckon it might be the flow switch. It so happens that I have an identical boiler working happily at home, which is quite useful for diagnostic purposes - I'll swap over the flow switches, and if the fault moves with them then I've solved it.

Cheers!

Of course, the slightest useful bit of information such as make and model would have been useful
