Coach line.

Had the old Rover resprayed a number of years ago. The original coach lines were NLA, so I just used twin gold transfer ones from the local accessory shop. Am quite happy with them.

It's having a new wing fitted, and of course that section of coach line will go, but I've still got some of the stuff I used left.

Snag is it's bright 'gold', and the stuff on the car has weathered. Any tips on how to match it?

If it's faded due to sunlight maybe sticking a test piece of the new stuff in a UV box might fade it a bit ?

Whenever I have seen a car respray that tries to match the old paint, it often ends up different as the new stuff ages. IMO it would probably be better to accept a difference to begin with that slowly, but naturally, blends with the old.

Daintily skirmish the surface with an angle grinder....

Or something cosmetic painted on top just for the aging period. Water colour paint covered with wax, or maybe boot polish?

Or make every panel different, so that it looks "artistic".

Get onto eBay and get another kit and redo the lot. It'll look far better and you'll always appreciate the effort

Agreed; I remember buying a kit a few years ago and it wasn't expensive at all. If the paint's good, the old stuff should come off easily enough with a bit of assist from a hairdryer.

If it's just the self adhesive vinyl stuff, then it's probably not that hard to just pull it all off on that side and re-do it with new. The fact it's not the same as the other side won't be as obvious.

I'm not sure I have enough spare to do the whole side. Or if I can still buy the identical stuff.

Buy something very similar and either do both sides or do the one and not expect anyone to be able to see both sides at the same time to compare them?
