I seem to remember a tip to use household spray 'silicon' polish to both clean upvc plastic ( esp the woodgrain variety ) and to slightly lubricate the usual sliding mechanism.
Does anyone agree ? .... Dave

automotive dash clean wipes seem to bring mine up nicely
