Ceramic Hob - Duff hot plate

One of the hot plates on the ceramic hob has stopped getting hot. I suspect it's just the element as there where a few "hot spots" visible when it was working...

Now before I take our only fuctioning hob apart are there any "Gotchas"? It has a lable underneath warning never to take the cover off with it inverted. Face up, remove fixing screws, (where ever they are, I can't see any on the top side...) and lift of the glass. Sounds simply but whats inside? Just ordinary rings close to the glass or some messy heat transfer compound as well?

Are the elements "standard" as per those on page 2651 of the CPC catalogue? Or are they "specials" for a ceramic hob that CPC don't list on the book?

The wound rings are usually in a ceramic tray with a metal backing ring. The ring ceramic is held in close contact with the hob surface by sheet metal bracketry. No heat sink compound is used.

The elements vary I'm aware of around half a dozen different designs and sizes used on UK manufactured hobs but the foreigners maybe use their own setups.
