Hi I am going to be replacing my downstairs carpet and it just happens to be the same size as my attic floor. Will there be any gain to the insulation of my attic if I lay the carpet on my attic floor or should I just bin it?
Thanks Ron

Essentially none. However, it may seal any gaps, and reduce heat loss that way. If it's properly insulated anyway, no.
Probably not a lot of gain. However, assuming the attic is boarded, adding carpet makes it a bit more comfortable when you're grovelling about up there. I've got it in mine!

Probably worth doing as draught proofing, even if it does not give much insulation.
